A MUSICAL MARATHON FOR DONIZETTI AT MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT

Musicians from all over Europe and Italy, who were able to fly thanks to Ryanair and SACBO, took part in the Donizetti Sing&Fly musical marathon from 11.30 a.m. until 9.30 p.m. in the Schengen departures area at Milan Bergamo Airport.

There were fifteen sessions with 22 performers, as well as two orchestral concerts for the final part, for a total of 60 members.

The event in the airport, which welcomed all arriving and departing passengers in the name of music and of Gaetano Donizetti, preceded the first week of the Donizetti Opera 2019 programme. The Teatro Donizetti Foundation received applications from dozens of candidates not only from Bergamo but from many other Italian cities - including Naples, Catania, Pescara, Bari and Palermo - as well as from Bucharest, Frankfurt and Budapest. The chosen artists were invited to perform in turns from morning to evening, offering musical programmes including original pieces or arrangements of Donizetti’s music.

The Teatro Donizetti Foundation and SACBO, in collaboration with Ryanair, assigned the return flights for participation in the initiative and tickets for the general rehearsal of the opera Peter the Great, which took place on Tuesday 12 November at 7 p.m. at the Teatro Sociale.
