OPERATION HARE CAPTURE IN THE ORIO AL SERIO AIRPORT AREA

In the early hours of the morning on Sunday 22 January 2023, in the grassy area surrounding Orio al Serio airport, a hunt for hares took place with the support of staff from the Local Hunting Organisation of the Bergamo Plains, based in Caravaggio and presided over by Mario Fogazzola, and the Voluntary Hunting Guards from the Province of Bergamo. The operation, which was programmed three years on from the last, was organised by and saw the participation of SACBO, with the group managed by the operational director Alberto Cominassi and the safety manager Marco Tagliabue, in compliance with European EASA regulations regarding prevention of possible impact through the distancing of wild animals from areas where aircraft manoeuvre. As in previous similar operations aimed at the progressive containment of hares on airport grounds, all precautions have been taken to protect and safeguard the captured specimens. They have been tagged by a veterinary surgeon to be subsequently released in repopulation areas throughout the Bergamo plain.

Great outcome on the service quality front for Milan Bergamo Airport, which closes 2022 confirming its top ranking according to the surveys carried out by ACI World, the international airport association. In the last quarter of 2022, the surveys carried out by ACI World, the international airport association, confirm the appreciation of the services offered by Milan Bergamo Airport, which shows a significant increase in the already high levels achieved in the quality of services and spaces both compared to the previous quarter and to the corresponding period last year. The periodical study on the level of appreciation among airport users, part of the ASQ programme run by the Airports Council International (ACI) World and involving 300 of the most important airports on an international level, shows for Bergamo Airport an overall satisfaction rating of 4.6 (out of a maximum of 5) against a world average value of 4.3 and an Italian average value of 4.2. MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT ONCE AGAIN EXCEEDS 13 MILLION PASSENGERS ANNUALLY

Today, Wednesday 28 December 2022, Milan Bergamo Airport exceeded 13 million passengers for this year. It is a milestone that has been passed three years after the first time and marks the second highest number in terms of annual passenger traffic in the history of the airport, behind the 2019 record of 13,850,000. With the daily average for December, 2022 is drawing to an end with an overall total equal to 95% of passenger traffic generated before the pandemic.
The year has seen constant recovery since March, which consolidated over the summer period and resulted in the positive outcome seen for the final quarter of the year. This recovery has been made possible in terms of organisation of services by the decision taken by SACBO to continue with the program for the adaptation of the airport infrastructure over the 2020-2021 period with the completion of the expansion works to the west of the terminal, and the operative move made at the beginning of the year to increase the number of staff in the company’s operative structure after having maintained staffing levels through social security provisions during the health emergency.
The recovery was also thanks to the 19 airlines already operating to and from the airport together with the 7 that began over the course of the year, bringing the total number to 26, for 140 destinations in 40 countries.
