MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT INAUGURATES THE NEW NORTH TAXIWAY

The president of SACBO, Giovanni Sanga, has cut the ribbon for the new taxiway B, which has been built in the northern area of Bergamo airport thanks to an investment of approximately EUR 35 million, including important ancillary works that, together, contribute to improving efficiency and operational flexibility, cutting aircraft waiting times and significantly reducing CO2 emissions on the ground.

The new taxiway is the result of an extension to the existing taxiway in the northern area of the airport, parallel to the runway, extending the length by approximately 1,600 metres and allowing aircraft parked on the northern apron to reach the take-off point at runway heading 28 (east) via two new junctions. This procedure guarantees an annual saving of 270 hours of taxiing time and a reduction of around one thousand tons of CO2 and will have a positive effect on the punctuality of both flight arrivals and departures
